I was 7 years old watching, staying up way past my bedtime to watch the Phillies play in the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. A home run by Lenny Dykstra put us up 6-5 before Joe Carter “touched them all” in route to a World Series championship for the Blue Jays. I remember feeling crushed at the time, but I thought if we could get here this year we will be back. I was right, I just didn’t think it would take 15 years. After that night it wasn’t that easy being a Phillies fan going under-500 from 1994-2001. From there we were close to the playoffs on a couple different occasions.
Fast forward to last night and none of that mattered. All of the frustraions and mistakes over the years were completely forgotten when Nomahh popped out to Ruiz. The Phils are in the World Series! And no one can take that away.
I was actually very confident going into the game last night. It was because we had our Ace on the hill with full rest. Cole was superb giving us 7 awesome innings before the’pen shut it down and brought the NL pennant back to the city of brotherly love. I still didn’t know how to react when the game was over, besides jumping up and down giving high fives all around (the smile is still on my face).
For a city who has not won a championship since the 76ers in 1983 (no the Soul doesn’t count), this is a huge deal. I can’t even imagine a parade down south Philly, but I really want one.

Good job covering your ass with the Soul clarification. Before I was done with the word ‘championship’ in that sentence I was clicking on comment.
Go Phils!
