ESPN shows their MMA ignorance once again. On Saturday night they began to crawl the results for UFC 93 on the ‘bottom line’ before the 10 PM replay.
For those who don’t know; UFC 93 was live from Dublin, Ireland meaning that the event started at about 3 PM in the Eastern region of the United States. Of course the UFC replays the PPV at the normal 7 PM Pacific, 10 PM Eastern so not to disrupt the UFC fans normal routine.
However, the bar P Bas and I were at obviously also had TV’s that were showing ESPN and ESPN2. We happened to be eyeing the bottom line for various other updates and ended up seeing a spoiler to the Rua-Coleman co-main event.
We had been watching the bottom line on and off from 9 and at this point it was nearly 12. We had not seen this ‘MMA’ category all night. This was likely a mistake. ESPN likely did not want to start crawling the results until after the replay but this one got through somehow. At least I like to think it was just a big mistake.
In anycase, I don’t know if you have noticed but a sporting event just isn’t quite as much fun when you know the outcome. Just wanted to say a nice ‘thank you’ to ESPN for the breaking news.

i think espn knew that nobody wanted to watch that garbage ppv. they did folks a favor by throwing out the spoilers. 94 will be money though.
