Just when you thought David Ortiz was at an all-time low, the salsa might have hit the fan yesterday in Los Angeles Anaheim.
It is well publicized that Ortiz is yet to hit a dinger this season. PTI had a toss-up this week; which number will be bigger Zach Greinke’s win total or David Ortiz’s home run total?
Thinking about it that means will Ortiz hit at least in the range of 20-22–no pitchers get more wins than that anymore. Both Wilbon and Kornheiser said yes that Ortiz would break the 20, or so, home run mark.
I don’t think they have seen enough of Ortiz’s at bats to make this call. I am hear to say that I am not sure David will make it to double digits this year.
Yesterday he was giving 12 innings and a total of 7 at bats to make something happen. No, he did not hit a home run–he ended up going 0 for 7. That is not even the worst part. He left 11 men on base! Just another sad development as the steroid era comes to an end.

Just hacking at the first pitch, hoping he runs into a get-me-over fastball.
Am I in some sort of parallel dimension where Julio Lugo is the best fit at DH? This is absurd.
