MLB.com reports today that the Red Sox have reportedly added a second year (either a guarantee, or via an option) to the offer they have made to catcher Jason Varitek. In my previous article on Varitek, I knew they wouldn’t let him wade out in the water too long. Hopefully, forward progress continues.

J.C. Romero’s MLB career is a bit intriguing. He was drafted in ‘97 by the Minnesota Twins and made his major league debut 2 years later as a reliever. In 2000 and 2001 the Twins tried Romero as a starter. Over these 2 years he went 3-11 with an ERA around 7.00.
