If you haven’t heard of Stephen Strasburg yet you should check him out. He is currently a junior and playing for San Diego State. He is absolutely filthy, digest these numbers: 11 starts, 10-0 1.38 ERA, 147 k’s in 78 + innings (compared to 15 walks), 48 hits given up and an opponent batting avg of .176. He is 6’4, 220 pounds. Wow.
This kid is the real deal. In his last start, he was hitting 98mph in the first inning and in the 8th inning. He also hit 101 mph on 12 different pitches. He has the stamina, the power and is equipped with a high 80’s curve and slider. All the tools are there for this kid and I’m sure he will not dissappoint. One scout was even quoted as saying he is as good as AJ Burnett is right now.
So what is the problem with him? Nothing with him really, it’s just that the Nationals have the first pick. Everyone knows how much of a joke they are, but someone like Strasburg can really turn an organization around. I would look for this kid to maybe make an appearance in September after he (should be) is drafted number 1 overall in the June entry draft.
