The other day I posted my thoughts on how the NL will play out. Well now it is time for the AL. With a little over 9 days till the first Spring Training game, the baseball itch has landed. I can not wait for it all to begin. Again, what I post are just my thoughts, feel free the disagree, but don’t be to surprised when it plays out this way…

AL East

  1. Boston – Let’s start by saying I am in a fact a Sox fan. However, if Lowell, Papi, and Beckett stay healthy the Sox will be the team to beat. With the addition of Smoltz, Saito, and Penny, the Sox have great potential to make it back to the World Series.
  2. Tampa Bay – Adding Kapler, and losing Hinske will equal out in terms of offensive numbers, but Tampa Bay will be locking to repeat a trip to the World Series again, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Boston and TB in the ALCS again. It’ll be a good race to the end.
  3. Yankees – Keep spending money, add more to the payroll. Until they click as a team, they won’t be back in contention. Watch out for A-Rod’s numbers to drop, I bet he stopped doing the juice since he admitted.
  4. Baltimore – Signing Cesar Izturis was probably the best move the Orioles made this offseason, giving them a a good defensive SS, however the man can’t hit. Losing Millar to the Blue Jays didn’t help them out much either. They do have some pieces in place for people to mature and come into their own, but I don’t see it happening this season.
  5. Blue Jays – They have only added Matt Bush, who has had Tommy John surgery already (the kid just turned 23). Don’t expect Toronto to be a factor.
