marshall beast blog

Either Shefter was wrong of the Bronco’s management has had a change of heart.

Courtesy of bmarshall15.com’s “beastblog”:

To whom it may concern.  Life is filled with change, and where I am in my life now change is probably best. It’s hard leaving an organization ran by one of the best owners in all of sports, and someone who’s been there for me through my ups and downs.  The hardest thing was hearing Mr. B wish me luck in the future, but we both came to the conclusion that  this is probably the best thing for me to grow on and off the field.

I thank the Denver fans who embraced my emotion and play on the field and showing me love every time I step outside my door.

Denver doesn’t seem too concerned with keeping their best, most productive players or coaches for that matter.

Imagine if Josh McDaniels and Pat Bowlen were in charge of the football op’s over in Cincinnati… they wouldn’t have enough players to field a team. “Mr. B wish me luck in the future, but we both came to the conclusion that  this is probably the best thing for me to grow on and off the field.” That doesn’t seem to be anyway to run a company or professional sports team.

Take a few minutes to read some of the comments that fans have left for “the beast” below, there are some funny ones. The comments are definitely being monitored hard, or fans in Denver are truly against their organization at this point.

brandon-marshallI am shocked about this developing story. That is, I am shocked that it took us this long to hear from Brandon Marshall. I thought that he would have his bags packed the week Cutler was shipped to Chi-town.

Instead it took until this past weekend for Marshall to voice his unhappiness in Denver. According to Adam Schefter, Marshall missed a mandatory team minicamp this past weekend and made the trade request during a meeting with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen on Friday.

Marshall has been unhappy with the team all Spring even beyond the Cutler drama. Marshall is coming off hip surgery that he believes was made worse by misdiagnoses by the Broncos medical staff.

The problem that Marshall has now is of a contractual nature. Marshall is due $2.2 million this season, the final year of a four-year contract he signed as a rookie. He is seeking the opportunity to renegotiate. (more…)

More info came out today regarding the NFL’s plan for what they are calling legacy games this 2009-2010 season. There will be 16 games in which the eight original AFL teams will wear historic uniforms.

The American Football League merged with the NFL in 1970. The AFL played its first season ten years earlier in 1960 with a total of eight teams. Those teams were the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs (Dallas Texans), New England Patriots (Boston Patriots), New York Jets (Titans of New York), Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans (Houston Oilers).

I think that 6 of the old uni’s have some nostalgic value to them. However, Denver’s and New York’s throwbacks are downright ugly.

Also how tall is Josh McDaniels? 5’3”?

cutler-jerseyIt finally happened. After weeks of drama Cutler is out of Denver. The Cutler Bet goes to the underdog. I won! Cutler is now a Bear. McDaniels might have let go the “franchise QB” but he didn’t exactly get the shaft in return. The Broncos received Kyle Orton and three picks — including the 18th overall pick this year and a No. 1 next year.

It makes sense; two No. 1 picks for a guy who has never lost in the playoffs. Oh… he was never won a game yet either… But he has been impressive in his two full years as a starter… try under .500 with a 17-20 record.

It seems more and more like McDaniels made out like a bandit in this one. The only problem is you still don’t have a QB Josh!

More on the weekend… (more…)

Jay Cutler was laughing it up in Nashville last night at UFC Fight Night. UFC 100 should have Cutler vs. McDaniels with special guest referee Pat Bowlen. So many old WWF references running through my mind but I’ll spare you…

Oh, the ongoing saga of “the Cutler bet“. The Denver Broncos said Tuesday they would grant Jay Cutler his request and try to trade the quarterback.

Soon after a report surfaced saying that Cutler was surprised by Bowlen’s declaration. Apparently, recently Cutler had packed up his car in Nashville and had it shipped to Denver. The rumor is he intended to show up for the team’s first minicamp on April 17th.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any uglier. (more…)

According to sources in Denver, Cutler put his house up for sale this past week. Cutler bought the house in 2006 for $1.34 million and is now asking a cool $2 mil for the property.

According to the real estate listing, Cutler’s home contains a 13-tiered waterfall. I don’t know my residential waterfall terminology all that well but whatever a “13-tiered” waterfall is… it sounds impressive.

I found the actual site that the home is listed on.

The house also boasts a 3 car garage, 4 bedrooms and 7 baths. Of the other amenities listed one is a “microwave oven”…

A microwave? Who are you John D. Rockefeller? How dare you throw your riches in our faces, Jay. What’s next? A VCR? Maybe and cable ready TV? (more…)
