I was a proponent of picking Oden over Durrant since the middle of their Freshman years. My thought process being that Oden is a dynamic player on both sides of the court and is NBA ready, meaning he can make an impact right away. After Durrant’s fantastic rookie campaign my thoughts have not wavered.

Oden was still the pick. Durrant is a great offensive talent but he is not the savior of a franchise (literally. too soon?). Oden can be that difference maker if he has some help around him on offense. His own offensive game will continue to improve and his defense can already be game changing.

The title to this post is not in reference to the media but rather me. I was on the Trailblazer bandwagon two years ago and stuck on it last year. It is not a packed bandwagon by any means, not yet at least. This is a young team. Very young and very talented. LaMarcus Aldridge has come into star form and can form a big 2 threat with Oden. It is reassuring that Oden does not have to solely carry the load on the inside on the offensive side of the ball right away. Brandon Roy is a budding superstar. This kid is something special. This is a player that fell into Portland’s lap at #6 two years ago after taking Aldridge earlier in the draft. That could go down as one of the best draft’s in a long time when all is said and done.

More love for Oden and the ‘Blazers all season right here.
