jimmy-smith-reggie-williamsPeople are complaining about Jay Cutler having too much fun in his new home of Chicago. I’m starting to wonder what in the world is going on down in Jacksonville.

First Matt Jones is arrested when a police officers allegedly saw him inside his car cutting up cocaine. Earlier this month Reggie Williams refused to leave a bar. He was tasered and subsequently arrested on cocaine possession.

Now there are reports of former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jimmy Smith suffering a similar fate. He was pulled over Wednesday and the Florida Highway Patrol said they found crack cocaine and marijuana in his car. Oh yeah, he doesn’t have a license either.

So since my update the Miami Buffalo game has moved to a 1 point spread, not that much movement, but now Miami is losing 1 point, glad I got my money on them while it was a pick-em.

This week I am only going with only 2 lines.

Jacksonville moneyline over the Bears (+250). Not saying it is anywhere near a safe bet, Jacksonville has been playing terribly, but eventually they need to win, and who better to pull it off against than the Bears, another team that is impossible to tell how they will do each week.

The second line is Dallas moneyline over Pittsburgh (+155). Again it is a risky moneyline, Dallas and Pittsburgh are both teams that are getting back on track from rough spots, both QB’s are getting hot, Pittsburgh’s D is phenomenal but at the same time TO and Romo have been clicking.

What I did was parlay the two together, even a measly $5.00 bet on the parlay would win you $40.00 if Jax and the Cowboys both win. Both very possible wins, and risking 5 to win 40? Why not?

joey-porter1So all of you know about Joey Porter’s little tiff with Brandon Marshall courtesy of Rory. Well, only a few days have passed and Joey “the mouth” is at it again. He made it known that he doesn’t agree with Jags wideout Matt Jones playing while he appeals his 3 game league suspension. Jones was charged with cocaine possession during the summer but entered a drug treatment program to erase the felony charge. Nevertheless, Porter needs to show everyone that he has an opinion on everything.

So far this year, Porter has guaranteed a win against the Pats (hmmmm he never did that when Brady was playing), blamed a loss to Houston on referee Ed Hochuli, called Brandon Marshall (51 catches for 600+ yds in 7 games) soft, and now he is getting on Matt Jones who is following league procedures to appeal his suspension.

Unlike my friend Rory, I only accept trash-talk when it is backed up. I know Porter is leading the league in sacks and everything and thats all great. But football is the ultimate team sport and Joey “the mouth” has more headlines then his team has wins. So it is time to keep your mouth shut until your team isn’t in last place.

There have been a few articles in the past week and a half where a few cities are having trouble selling out their stadium.  I find that to be pretty odd (it could be because I live in Philly where it is  impossible to get tickets with out spending an arm and a leg and I am in 25,971st place in line for season tickets).  The biggest surprise is that San Diego’s local fox affiliate had to buy the remaining 6,000 tickets to the game so it was not subject to a local blackout.  Why would a team that is great to watch begging people to come to the game?

Tickets aren’t flying out the window in Jacksonville or Minnesota either.  Minnesota has sold out this weeks game but it struggling to sell tickets for week 3 vs Carolina.  Jacksonville barely has a fan base so I don’t know if they even count.

It’s not like these are bad teams at all.  They actually all have chances of reaching the super bowl. Maybe it is time for new places for the Chargers and Jacksonville. Maybe Florida has maxed out its number of football cities already. I am curious to see if this is a continuing trend or not.
